MagScapes - creators of the world's first magnetic wallpaper
The idea of magnetic wallpaper was first conceived by Patricia Adler in 1999. As an established product designer, Patricia says; "The inspiration came when trying to find a way to use walls as a canvas for creative expression. I found that using magnets was simple, clean, endlessly re-arrangeable and most of all, fun!"
Patricia and co-founder, Jeremy Lee decided upon the name MagScapes to encourage people to create their own magnetic landscapes.
After three years of technical development, MS Lite was perfected. It is a lightweight printable wallcovering that is easy to hang and, because of encapsulated ferrous particles, allows magnets to be positioned anywhere on its surface!
In 2008, MagScapes introduced MS Plus to its range of materials to work with stronger magnets for utility applications. MS Plus is flexible and hung with the same paste, but has a much higher ferrous content. It is produced as a liner and white dry erase wallcovering.
MagScapes also test a wide range of magnets for application suitability and safety. We only recommend products that are suitable for all the family - and strongly advise against the use of high power magnets in areas where young children may be present.
Since 2001, our Custom Service has been providing bespoke; MS Lite wallcoverings to create beautiful feature walls - and - MS Lite sheet magnet to create beautiful magnets cut to any shape.
Custom magnets have also evolved. We began with printed paper applied to sheet magnet and die cut to shape. Now, digital cutters can cut deeper and with more precision, so interior designers can choose from a wide range of tactile materials such as; leather, silk, laminates, foam, acrylic, felt and even balsa wood!
As digital printing and cutting technology gets cheaper, creating a 'feature wall' with your own precision shaped magnets - is now affordable for home, work or play areas.
We are now seeing Designers use MagScapes in the most imaginative ways for; Sign & Display, Interior Wallcovering, and Toys & Games applications.
