Hejmonti modifies driftwood into handcrafted magnetic boards. Driftwood is a specific type of wooden debris that ends up along the shores of beaches around the world. After coming upon these worn down scraps of lumber, german brand hejmonti had the idea to transform them into a project called ‘drift’. Once they are retrieved from the sand, the geographic coordinates of each discovery site are burnt into the surface with a branding iron, adding a typographic element to the work. They are then equipped with magnets and finished with a heavy coat of silver bleach allowing keys, knives, tools and other metallic items to stick to the wood as it is mounted on a wall
